April 2008

Dear Young Adults and Parents of Young Adults,

Looking back, I remember my years as a teenager. Those years were filled with fun, excitement, and very little responsibility compared to life as an adult. Like most teenagers, everything revolved around me. It is often said, “teenage years are the best years of your life.” While those years were fun and exciting, I would not consider them the best years of my life. You see, during my teenage years, I was missing the key ingredient to life. A great theologian by the name of Blaise Pascal once said, “There is a God shaped vacuum in the heart of every person, and it can never be filled by any created thing. It can only be filled by God.”

Today’s teenagers are searching to fill this God shaped vacuum in their heart. They are trying to fill this void with material possessions and things this world has to offer, much like I did. This God shaped vacuum can only be filled by having a personal relationship with God, through His Son, Jesus Christ. If you are reading this and are a teenager, I pray that you have made the most important decision of your life, to accept Jesus Christ as your personal Savior. If not, I urge you to come see me so that I can share with you how to fill this void and be changed for eternity! Be sure to join us on Wednesday nights.

Over the next few weeks I will be teaching a series on Facing Real Life Issues. Whether Christian or not, today’s teenagers are constantly facing real life issues and temptation including suicide, sexual immorality, idolatry, witchcraft, anger, and the use of drugs and alcohol. Through this study teenagers will learn what the Bible says about these issues and how to overcome them by applying God’s Word to their daily lives.

In Christ,

Pastor Brad

March 2008

Dear Young Adults and Parents of Young Adults,

As we enter the month of March, I am exited that Easter is almost hear. Yes, this year we will celebrate Eater in March. Ok, be honest. When I said Easter, what was the first thing that came to mind? Did you picture in your mind a basket full of colorful eggs and a bunny? Often, that is the first picture that comes to mind. Much like Christmas, Easter has become another day of commercialism. However, let’s briefly reflect on the true meaning of Easter. Easter is about the resurrection of a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. Friends, this is where my hope lies! I am reminded of the Apostle Paul’s words when he speaks of the resurrection 17 If Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins” (I Cor. 15:17). In other words, if Jesus Christ has not risen from the grave, our faith is completely ineffective. It is worthless and we are not only dead in our sins and trespasses, but are destined to an eternity separated from God. On top of that, Paul goes on to say that if we only have hope in Jesus Christ for this lifetime, then we are to be most pitied among all men (I Cor. 15:19). However, we know that our faith is not futile. I can only imagine what it must have been like on that Easter morning to be in those women’s shoes. When they arrived at the empty tomb in which Jesus Christ had been buried, they saw the two men who gleamed like lightening standing beside them. “He is not here, He is risen!” they said. Can someone shout Hallelujah? Jesus has risen! He has conquered death, hell, and the grave! He has not only died for your sins and mine, but He has been raised to life. I know for certain, beyond any shadow of a doubt where my hope lies. Do you have that same certainty?

In Christ,

Pastor Brad
