December 2007

Dear Young Adults and Parents of Young Adults,

Wow! Can you believe that Thanksgiving is already over? Oh my, this year has fffffllllooowwn by. Immediately following Thanksgiving comes “Black Friday” and then four weeks of the hectic Christmas shopping season which amounts to nothing more that “Total Chaos”. Yes, you know exactly what I mean. Often I fall captive to this same materialistic trap. Before you know it, we will be taking down the Christmas tree and preparing for New Year’s, Valentines Day, and so on. But wait just a minute! Now is the time for you and I to “stop and smell the roses,” as they say. Imagine how different things would be If the world only knew and understood the true meaning of Christmas. Nearly two thousand years ago as “the shepherds were keeping watch over their flocks an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord” (Luke 2:8-11). The true meaning of Christmas is about a Savior being born, living a perfect sinless life, being crucified for your sins, physically being raised to life on the third day and paying a debt that you cannot pay. This Christmas, be sure to stop and praise Christ Jesus, the Lord!

In Christ,

Pastor Brad

November 2007

Dear Young Adults and Parents of Young Adults,

As we enter the Fall season with Thanksgiving and Christmas quickly approaching I can’t help but reflect on the greatness of God. The Psalmist says, “It is good to give thanks to the Lord and to sing praises to Your name, O Most High”. What better time than right now to give thanks to the Lord? We live in a fast paced society and each day seems even busier than the last. However, busyness is no excuse for not thanking Him. Have you taken time recently to stop and offer thanks to the Lord? I want to encourage you not to wait until November 22, 2007. Stop what you’re doing and offer up thanks to Him now. Thank Him for being your Creator, Redeemer, Savior, and Friend. We have so much to be thankful for and His praise should continually be on our lips!

You will notice our weekly schedule and upcoming events listed below. It is my goal to keep you up-to-date with Bible studies, activities and upcoming events that are taking place in Rock Solid Youth Ministry. Regular attendance is crucial in order for believers to grow and mature in Christ. Therefore, I want to personally encourage everyone to make it a point to attend each meeting. As we dig into God’s Word, I challenge each of you to come prepared to learn something new about the Lord.

Coming in December
Attention Parents!  Please mark your calendars now for our first Parents Prayer Breakfast and Information meeting which will be held on Saturday, December 1st at 9:00 am.  I look forward spending this time together. I will share with you my philosophy of ministry, upcoming events, and future plans for Rock Solid Youth Ministry.

In Christ,

Pastor Brad
